Alex Norris

Alex Norris (they/them) is an award-winning cartoonist and author.

Alex is best-known for their internet comic series 'Webcomic Name', in which every comic has three panels and ends with "oh no".

Following the series launch in 2016, it proved immediately popular and quickly amassed millions of followers across social media. The first 'Webcomic Name' book collection was published in 2019. Alex has spoken at events across the world, including Pictoplasma Berlin and NYC, XOXO Festival in Portland OR, The National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City, TCAF in Toronto, and Thought Bubble Comic Con UK. Alex has also held an exhibition of work in Berlin, and painted a mural of Webcomic Name blobs in Mexico City. In 2020 Alex appeared on BBC Newsnight speaking about the death of newspaper strips and the rise of webcomics.

As one of the original creators on the English-language version of LINE Webtoon in 2015-2016, Alex created two series under the moniker "Dorris McComics". Alex is currently adapting one of these ('How to Love', a YA love advice series that challenges the norms around love and relationships) into a graphic non-fiction book for Walker Books UK/Candlewick Press US.

Alex is Welsh, born in Swansea. After studying English Literature at Bristol Univeristy, Alex currently splits time between Margate and London.
