Molly Ker Hawn
Mo O’Hara grew up in Blue Bell Pennsylvania with her parents, her older brother and a stroppy tabby cat called Super. She graduated from Wilkes University with degrees in English and Theatre Arts and decided to move first to Dublin, then London because she wanted to live abroad but spoke no foreign languages. After an incredibly short and unsuccessful career as a medieval serving wench at the Tower of London, Mo started working as an actress and then as a storyteller, eventually touring theatres and schools all across the UK and Ireland. Comments on her storytelling ranged from “I liked you better than the rabbit with the big head that was here last week,” to “Can I rewind you and see you again after lunch,” to “How did you know me to put me in your story?” Somebody eventually told Mo to write her stories down. So she did!
Mo’s MY BIG FAT ZOMBIE GOLDFISH chapter book series is published by Macmillan Children’s in the UK and and Feiwel and Friends in the UK. Book 1 hit the New York Times Bestseller list in Dec 2013. The series has been sold in German, Brazil and Turkey so far. Mo's debut picture book, set in the Zombie Goldfish world, will publish in 2015 and a stand-alone picture book, MORE PEOPLE TO LOVE ME, will follow in 2016. As well as her stories for children Mo has also written for radio and theatre and has performed her own comedy material in London and Edinburgh.
Mo currently lives in London, still speaks no foreign languages (unless you count American) and still has a sneaking suspicion that the rabbits with the big heads were better than her but the kid was just being nice. Oh yes, and Mo, her husband and her two young children now have two stroppy kittens of their own.
