Gregory Feifer

Gregory Feifer is a writer and journalist. He was NPR’s bureau chief in Moscow, and has also worked in Paris, Prague and New York. His books include RUSSIANS (Twelve, 2014), which examines the social behavior behind the country’s political culture; THE GREAT GAMBLE (HarperCollins, 2009), a history of the Soviet war in Afghanistan; and SPY HANDLER (Basic Books, 2005), co-written with former KGB colonel Victor Cherkashin. He was born in London, educated at Harvard University and currently serves as executive director of the Institute of Current World Affairs in Washington.
