Hilary McKay is one of Britain’s best-loved children’s authors. Her books—including SAFFY’S ANGEL, THE EXILES, THE TIME OF GREEN MAGIC, BINNY BEWITCHED, and HILARY MCKAY’S FAIRY TALES—have been published in over 30 languages and have won the Whitbread (now Costa) Children’s Book Award twice, the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize, the Nestlé Smarties Book Prize Gold Award, and countless other accolades.

Hilary’s novel THE SKYLARKS’ WAR (Macmillan Children’s Books and Margaret K. McElderry Books/Simon & Schuster) won the 2018 Costa Children’s Book Award and was named the Times Children’s Book of the Year. The follow-up, THE SWALLOWS’ FLIGHT, was released to critical acclaim in 2021.

Hilary lives in the beautiful Peak District in Derbyshire, England.
