I assist Molly Ker Hawn in the Bent Agency’s London office and am building my own list, representing authors of adult literary fiction and sci-fi/fantasy/horror, as well as select adult non-fiction and YA/middlegrade fiction. Please note that I’m open to referrals from clients and other publishing contacts even though I’m closed to queries.

I grew up in Deptford, southeast London. After finishing my BA in History, I spent a few years as a bookseller and cataloguer in the wild world of second-hand and antiquarian books. I did my MA in Queer History at Goldsmiths, where I researched queer-coding in 1920s fashion journalism. I joined the Bent Agency in 2019.

I read pretty omnivorously, but across all genres I particularly enjoy: authorial confidence; unexpected, singular narrative voices; good, stylish sentences; humour/wit; knotty interpersonal relationships; and transportive writing that immerses me in a fully-formed world, whether fantastical, geographical, or emotional.

A random selection of old and new favourites: Hilary Mantel, Shirley Jackson, Francis Spufford, Patricia Highsmith’s Ripley novels, Jordy Rosenberg’s Confessions of the Fox, Tamora Pierce, Shola von Reinhold’s LOTE, Tamsyn Muir, Shelley Parker-Chan, Rosamond Lehmann’s Dusty Answer, Julia Armfield, Andrea Lawlor’s Paul Takes the Form of a Mortal Girl, Diana Souhami, Laurie Colwin’s Happy All the Time, Allen Bratton’s Henry Henry, TH White, Sybille Bedford, His Dark Materials, Elif Batuman, Michelle Tea, Jacqueline Carey, Isabella Hammad’s Enter Ghost, Dorothy L Sayers, Elaine Castillo’s America is Not the Heart, Donna Tartt, Susanna Clarke, Michelle Paver, etc etc…
